| Description | |||
This project involved the excavation of two new tunnels under the existing set of tracks in Grand Central Station in Manhattan. These two new tunnels required a flat, durable ceiling system with an ultra low profile suspension system, since the tunnel heights were severely limited. Lamcel provided a completely custom solution involving the panels, suspension system and design.
The pictures below were taken in 2004, a full 5 years after project completion. The pictures indicate how well the panels have stood up. The reflections in the ceiling in the pictures clearly illustrate the overall flatness of the Lamcel panels and the system as a whole. The project comprised of approximately 45,000 square feet of painted panels, with an aluminum honeycomb core. |
