The Beatles Revolution Lounge at the Mirage Hotel claims to be the most modern interactive media lounge in the world.
Lamcel panels were chosen for all of the walls, columns, angled ceilings, soffits of the lounge and bar areas. A total of about 7,000 square feet of panels adorn this lounge in a custom high gloss (>95°) dark bronze anodized finish.
The walls, ceilings, and soffits are covered with 1" thick Lamcel panels. This thickness was chosen to give superb flatness to the very high gloss finish.
Three structural columns in the lounge are covered with complex 3-D arrays of 2" thick Lam-Cel panel assemblies. Extensive use of 3-D sheet metal and design software enabled the assemblies to be brought together perfectly on site without prior fitting. The 2" thickness was chosen because these 12' tall panels are only anchored to the floor and to the ceiling panels above, cabled to the slab. These panels are not tied back to the structural columns at all.
The lounge is separated from the back services using a wall of 2" thick Lam-Cel panels 12' - 6" tall, anchored only to the floor and to the slab above. This wall, in the same high gloss dark anodized finish, creates a sleek partition that is fully in keeping with the mood of the interior space.
This custom anodized finish has some very dynamic features in various lighting conditions. In the subdued lighting of the lounge, the panels are very dark, almost black, yet they reflect the dynamic lighting created by the computerized LED lighting system reflecting from the tens of thousands of dichroic pieces of glass fitted into the ceilings and columns. In stronger light, the base dark bronze of the anodizing reveals itself in subtle shades of bronze and gold. This is evident in the pictures below.
This stunning tribute to the time period when the Fab Four ruled the air waves is an excellent example of the design flexibility inherent in the capabilities of the Lamcel line of customized architectural honeycomb panel solutions. |
